    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best choice for wet sumped Big Block Chevy. The Melling - 10778C oil pump was an excellent choice for my 454 CID Corvette engine build. It is manufactured in the USA, has billet steel gears, and the gears have their shafts extending into the cover for additional support. This pump came with a hardened steel shaft as well as a higher pressure spring. I installed my pump with the spring that came from the factory. With 10W30 oil that reads 200F* - 220F*, oil pressure during driving reads about 65 lbs. of pressure. At a 925 rpm idle, pressure drops to about 35-40 lbs at the same temperature. I couldn't be happier with how stable and reliable, as well as simple my oil system is. This oil pump is a no nonsense approach to achieve a well engineered oil delivery system for your Big Block Mark IV engine. Don't forget to order the Jegs soft copper gasket that fits between the oil pump and the bearing cap for the ultimate installation procedure. Cheers!
