Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke Crank at 6000 miles I’ve rebuilt about 10 small blocks (Chevy and Ford) over the past decade and I wanted to build a stroker for a change. Talked with the tech from SCAT about what I was building (72 Bronco, daily driver) and he assured me that this cast crank would more than handle the application. Well 6,000 miles after the rebuild the crank snapped at 4,000 rpm when merging onto the interstate. Called SCAT and the customer service was a joke. They refused to admit even the slightest possibility that something was wrong with the crank. Called a couple professional engine builders around town, sent them pictures of my broke crank. Apparently they frequently see SCAT cranks break in the same exact spot that mine did. SCAT grinds that area too thin and the end of the crank cant handle the vibration, even with a harmonic damper.
