Oil Pressure Gauge
Every internal combustion engine needs oil in order to operate. Oil reduces friction, which creates heat and can cause parts to expand and seize. Oil also cools the engine by transferring and circulating heat to colder areas and components such as an oil cooler. Oil also helps clean the engine by carrying away contamination to the filter. In order for oil to circulate throughout the engine, an oil pump is needed as well as unobstructed passageways and properly installed bearings. To confirm your engine has the proper pressure, an oil pressure gauge is used. This instrument is calibrated to measure the amount of pressure and display it as a reading either digitally or with a needle on a numbered face, providing you with a very important engine vital sign.
When choosing an oil pressure gauge, the first step is determining how it will be mounted. Whether in the dash, attached to a gauge panel, or in a gauge pod or cup, This will help you with determining the size you need. Once the mounting and size have been determined, choose from either an electric oil pressure gauge or mechanical oil pressure gauge. An electrical gauge uses a signal from a sending unit mounted to an oil galley, typically near the oil filter or top of the block. A mechanical oil pressure gauge is similar, but instead of an electrical sender, a tube is used, allowing oil pressure to push fluid into the back of the gauge and provide a reading. From the remaining options, choose the gauge that meets your color, style, and budget needs.
JEGS has a large oil pressure gauge selection available from top manufacturers including Auto Meter, VDO, Stewart Warner, Intellitronix, JEGS, and many more. Each gauge is built from high-quality components to provide you with long service life and accurate oil pressure measurement.
