Speedometer Cable
A speedometer cable is a component of a vehicle's speedometer system that transmits the rotational speed of the transmission's output shaft to the speedometer gauge located in the vehicle's dashboard. The cable is typically made up of an inner cable and an outer housing that protects the inner cable from damage. The inner cable rotates as the output shaft of the transmission rotates, and this rotation is transmitted through the cable to the speedometer gauge, which displays the vehicle's speed. The speedometer cable is usually routed from the transmission to the speedometer gauge through the firewall and is connected at both ends by a cable adapter. Over time, the speedometer cable may become worn or damaged, leading to inaccurate speed readings or a non-functioning speedometer gauge.
