Transmission Tailshaft
A transmission tailshaft is a component of a vehicle's drivetrain that connects the transmission to the driveshaft. It is a housing located at the rear of the transmission housing, extending out of the transmission case and connecting to the driveshaft. The tailshaft is responsible for helping transfer power from the transmission output shaft to the driveshaft, which then delivers power to the vehicle's rear wheels. A transmission tailshaft seal is often found on the end to prevent fluid from leaking out of the transmission. In some cases, the tailshaft may also be equipped with a yoke or flange that connects to the driveshaft. The tailshaft's length and size can vary depending on the vehicle's make and model.

When selecting a transmission tailshaft housing, first confirm the transmission type. Next, if more than one option is available (such as tailshaft length), measure and confirm for proper fitment with the output shaft as well as the vehicle drivetrain. From the remaining compatible options, choose the tailshaft that best fits your application as well as your budget.
