122598-1 - Mobil 1 Annual Protection Engine Oil is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once a year oil changes I've been using this oil in my 2013 Elantra Limited with absolutely no oil related problems. I drive under 20K per year so I love the fact that I only have one oil change per year. It also means I have less used oil to dispose of and it saves me time and money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always Satisfied I have been running M1 oils and M1 filters for over 20 years in all different types of applications ie: daily driver, modified vehicles, etc. I just switched over to M1 5w-20 annual protection from the M1 5w-20 ext. perf. Looking forward to about 20K of not worrying about changing it. I changed the M1 EP at 6,500 miles and it was still clean looking. Not sure how a person would choose any other oil to use. I use M1 in my differentials as well. Will continue to use M1 products in the future. Great oil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Motor Oil I have had Mobile 1 Annual Protection Motor Oil in my 2006 Ford e-250 work van for 7 month. His van has 172,000 miles on it and is in use 7-days a week. I could not be happier with this oil. Sure seems like I get much better gas mileage after switching to this oil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems good It’s interesting reading the negative reviews, especially regarding how it is bad oil because it turned ‘black’ after only however many miles. Sure, if you’re over fifty years old, you might remember gauging oil condition by its color. That’s because oil inferior additive packages and were paraffin based oils that allowed contamination to settle in the oil pan, which left oil “looking clean” longer, despite actually causing sludge buildup. Today’s oils “hold” contaminants in the oil, which causes a darkening in color, however the protection of the oil remains. Oil is not “bad” until the oil is ‘saturated’ with contaminants. And the only way to determine the level of ‘saturation’ is via oil analysis. Trust that Mobil has determined a safe mileage interval. I can only assume they wish to avoid lawsuits by suggesting harmful mileage intervals. Also, oil consumption is ‘normal’. Just read any owners manual. Oil consumption doesn’t mark a fault of the oil. Higher mileage, previously infrequent oil changes, engine wear, vanish and sludge, carbon on piston rings, are just a few reasons oil consumption occurs. Short trips, operating below normal engine temperatures, stop and go, hard driving, are operational causes. The molecular composition between oils can also cause differences in oil consumption characteristics. None of this means the oil is bad. I use this and several other versions of Mobil 1 in my vehicles and the oil gets very very dark, especially as the miles rack up, however, my engines are clean internally and show no signs of wear (yes, I inspect several of my engines periodically; such as my stock Coyote 5.0, 568hp LS3, 487hp Oldsmobile 350ci daily driver, ecotec 2.0L) With many miles on the Coyote (frequently run at 5000-7000rpm, and Oldsmobile 350 (frequently run beyond 6,500rpm), neither show varnish, sludge, or wear after “extended*” intervals. *extended is an inaccurate term. Modern oils simply have change intervals that are longer then previous oils.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Price should not be a factor Those people concerned with the price of this oil should consider this: This oil is rated to last one year so you have to use that as your basis point. The amount of money you would pay for this oil purchasing it once a year because you are changing your oil only once a year as opposed to purchasing a lower price point oil multiplied by however many times you would change that oil per year. The ANNUAL COST of the lower price point oil would probably be greater than that of the Mobil 1 AP. This cost however does not include the cost of purchasing additional quarts of oil throughout the year, if necessary, in order to maintain proper oil level of your vehicle. Based on this analogy, the world's finest motor oil is more cost effective and therefore a better buy on an annual basis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The oil is excellent, the price is steep Very good oil, but........at the current price, there will be some that will stay away. For most people with in warranty vehicles, most use mid range price point synthetics and change out at approx. 7500 miles to stay in warranty. After warranty, some may purchase it, but most will stay with mid range priced synthetics. Mobil needs to get the price in reasonable territory for this product to sell and reach market expectations. My rating reflects the product specifications and not the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Exactly 5k and that’s it I bought this product and thinking that I don’t have to change my oil and filter for one year but it is not true. Everything changed from my oil colour to oil level. Oil colour goes black and oil level was decreased after 5k miles. As advertised I bought Mobil oil filter and Mobil annual protection oil but nothing works .
