Rated 5 out of 5 by from This fits a harbor freight engine stand I first ordered a stand from a VW store. I needed to shim it to fit my engine stand and it was so flimsy that i was afraid of using it. I decided to try this one. Wow, what a difference. It is heavy duty and fit my engine stand perfectly. Highly recommended

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great stand with a little modification I bought this stand to hold a 1835 VW Air cooled. When I first got it, it didn’t look like it was going to work. But I didn’t want to return so I made it work. The arms seem a little bit too wide, but it actually does fit on the bottom engine mount bolts. The collar on the mounting bolt however did not allow a bolt to tighten up to the stand so I had to go buy a very small pipe to act as a sleeve and long washer to get the mount on. Then it worked perfect. Also fits into the Harbor Freight engine stand. You will need to drill a hole to lock it into place on the mount shaft of the stand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A fairly good choice for casual use The VW adapter does fit the tube on the 1000 lb Jeg's engine stand. It appears as though it will support a VW engine without problem. I do however have 3 concerns. 1. the VW engine bolts into slots on the adapter instead of bolt holes. I would like to see these connection points be bolt holes instead of slots over concern of the engine possibly sliding out of slots where bolt holes would be more secure. 2. Gussets, I would like it to see gussets reinforcing the bends in the tubing. 3. The length of the yoke is about 3" too short. It fits into the engine stand without issue. The drilled positioning holes match up to the alignment hole in the stand. However if the adapter yoke (tube) were about 3" longer it would extend out the back of the engine stand mount. If this were done, the bar that comes with the engine stand could be used to rotate the engine easier, and would also spread the load of the engine over the entire length of the tube on the engine stand. The extended portion of the tube with a rod through it would also help ensure the tube doesn't slide off the stand while rotating the engine block, or when moving the stand around. I may be overly cautious, but I prefer something be engineered to be much stronger and safer than required, rather than just enough to get by. Tom

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't forget to order the additional piece If u plan on using this for a type 4 VW motor make sure u order the extra adaptor. But the adaptor does not fit smoothly onto your motor...needs to be adjusted about 1/4". I hammered mine with a sledge hammer to make it fit. And also it would be nice if there were more locking holes to flip the motor completely over instead of just 3. But it will get the job done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very solid Bought this to work on my '67 beetle engine. Fits perfectly in the Harbor Freight 2000lb engine stand. Seems very solid with good welds. Only problem, any why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is the arms were just a hair too narrow and had to be forced a bit to line up with the bolt holes on the engine block. Overall pleased with it though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works but doesnt Fit the bolt holes good, but I don't think they had an air cooled motor when designing this. Hits the little flange on the engine case. Had to spend a while modifying the tabs so it wouldn't mess up my engine case. Also the locking pin hole, doesn't put the motor level.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs to be adapted I bought this along with a JEGS engine stand to rebuild my single port VW 1500 motor. I found I need to hammer the two prongs a bit to line them up with my engine studs. Also, my studs are not threaded long enough, so I needed to add washers to the studs to allow the nuts to be tightened. Otherwise it’s not a bad product for the price.

Someone in the reviews references an “extra adaptor” to accommodate type 4 motors. Do you know what they are talking about?

The 4150 is for Type 1 engine blocks only.
