- Here are a few tips to ensure a successful installation
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions thoroughly
- Before installation, flush any old fluid from your system, including transmission lines, oil cooler, and torque converter to remove any contaminants that could harm your new transmission
- When installing your torque converter, follow the instructions carefully to ensure proper fitment into the transmission input shaft and also attaching to your engine. Specific tolerances are required so that you do not damage the front pump in the transmission or the converter.
- This Unit only works in vehicles with a 13 Pin wiring harness connector
- The Transfer case adapter and shifter bracket are NOT included
- This 4L60 transmission includes the bolt-on bell housing to fit GM LS-Series engines (Pre-LS engines should use transmissions 555-603010 or 555-603015).
- The transmission can also be used in an older vehicle when converting to an electronically controlled overdrive transmission. The conversion to older vehicles will require the use of a transmission controller, crankshaft spacer, special cross-member, driveshaft changes, and other modifications (these parts are not included with the transmission).

The transmission I’ve been looking for
I had a shop rebuild my stock transmission to be a “performance” transmission. $3200 later and i was still burning up 3/4 clutches.
I was in a pinch and decided to order a trans in a box and jegs had the best price plus no core charge. I received the transmission on time and went in without a hitch. This trans is quick shifting, very responsive, and has great positive shifts. Perfect for my cammed 5.3. As long as the longevity of the transmission is good then I’ll be more than happy!!

Exactly what I was looking for.
Best deal I could find. I ordered mine late Sunday night and Monday morning they called to confirm shipping address and it was at my house Wednesday at lunch... my 4x4 2001 5.3 truck has stage 1 cam on new engine full exhaust intake and custom tuned and this tranny performs flawless. Direct fit no leaks even came with a new transfercase seal and bolts. No core charge and even came with bell housing, every other place charges core charge and extra for bell housing.... awesome deal great service

A bit of a problem
I bought this transmission about a month and a half ago, put it back in about a month ago, filled it completely with valvoline tranny fluid, drove it until today with no problems, came down a hill today to a stop sign, tried to pull out and nothing, it will go into park, but no other gear, everything accept park is a false neutral, the shift link moves and everything but nothing happens, tried calling today, was waiting for 57.45 minutes so gave up, gonna try to call again tomorrow

Cant review totally yet. It's in but not going. One bolt hoke doesnt line up on the bell housing. Chtome pan gets in the way of shifter bracket..

Nice looking. Never shifted correctly.Now blown up
Transmission looks good. It went in with no issues. 1 to 2 shift was hard from day one but it was working. Now the transmission blown 4 days after warranty is up. Now I have to pay for another trans.

Started off good, now not so much…..
Transmission came in, installed it over the weekend, flushed the cooler, installed new torque converter and ran great for a few weeks. The other day while driving home something gave and now it shifts extremely harsh from 1-2 and 2-3. Can also hear it clunking while downshifting….. will be calling jegs to see what I need to do for repair but can’t say it’s been a great experience. Transmission also doesn’t come painted as shown in the pictures but not a huge deal.

Bought 13 months ago and 3-4 clutch bands going out there slipping bad looked at trans dip stick and it’s black fluid burnt up from the gears slipping for lil more I recommend a transmission shop least your not out your money and labor when this one goes out before two years like me all jegs offered me was 10% off a rebuild kit

Transmission is no good.
I bought this transmission 10 days ago and my mechanic is telling me the trans has no 3 and 4 gear. The transmission is bad from the start. Now I don't have my truck and have to pay for labor and shipping to send the transmission back. I should've rebuilt the transmission I had in the first place. I just hope they honor the warranty.

Transmission lasted 15k miles. It blew up a few months ago putting it in reverse. I'm past the very short 1 year warranty period. My truck is not boosted only an ls1 with a Cam. The stock transmission lived longer. Don't recommend. When I received the transmission some small pockets of paint on the outside had dirt under them. I wasn't even sure if it was re built or not but didn't have time to wait on sending it back and getting a new one. This was a little over 2 years ago.

Transmission already is dead
Bought this as part of an engine rebuild. Got everything assembled, followed the instructions that came with the transmission, worked for about a month (put less than 50 miles on it). Now the transmission gave out and codes like P0740, P0753, P1810 appeared (I drive a 2002 chevy silverado), these codes are the transmission solenoids and pressure sensor. All of these are common problems with this transmission. Anyone looking to buy this I recommend you save your money and go somewhere else!

Poor quality inspection
Transmission came in on time , as I was inspecting , glad I did , I noticed the bolt hole was broken we're t-case bolts on , it was painted over pretty good , I sent it back hoping for a replacement ,but now they don't have any in stock , so now my truck is just sitting on a lift I have no transportation and no transmission to replace , I am how hundreds of bucks on this and jegs is no help at all , quality dept at jegs must have been off the day mine was inspected , 2100$ they should have done better , now I just want a refund and never deal with jegs again

Leaks!!!

Very disappointed
I bought his product had it installed and it lasted two days before over heating slipping and failing.
Everything was done by the book and now I have to pay to have it removed, pay for my truck to be towed, pay to store my truck, and pay to install the transmission and torque converter again. Also have to wait since it’s in back order and pay for a rental car in the mean time.
Kinda wishing I just got my original transmission rebuilt I’d be on the road right now and saved money in the process.

Poor Warranty, Transmission only lasted 3 months
I have a feeling this review won't stay up- purchased in 10/22, arrived 10/31/22, installed in November. Quit suddenly while driving this weekend, after only being driven locally for 3 months. Called regarding warranty- we have to pull it down, send it back (they wanted me to pay for it but finally agreed to send a BOL), wait until they have a replacement (a month at least) then we have to pay to have it reinstalled, and hope the new one lasts longer than 3 months. We are out thousands and down a vehicle for over a month. So just be warned. You might get a great transmission... you obviously might not, and if you are unlucky like us, you get screwed.

Sorry excuse of “quality”
I thought this was a good company that cared about their customers and satisfaction. Transmission came Cracked on top and doctored up to make less noticeable and Cracked at the tail shaft bolt hole and jb welded over to make less noticeable. If It was shipping damage the pieces broke off would be in the box and also not painted black from where it broke. The Hole has been painted over therefore the transmission was not inspected thoroughly or either they just dont care Complete waste of money and time. Sorry excuse of “quality products”.Get off this site and pay a good quality transmission shop for a rebuild with a good warranty.
