All Budget Headers are NOT Created Equal!
Hooker's Competition Series Headers are engineered to outperform at a reasonable price. To let an engine really breathe, Hooker used 16-gauge steel tubing (.049" thick) with long transition-style collectors. This gives the vehicle a serious flow increase without the loss of backpressure that most engines need. After years of testing, Hooker discovered that a machined 5/16" header flange provides enough flex & rigidity to hold the gasket tight to each port for a proper seal.
