    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems Great, tricky install Just installed yesterday in 87 ford f250 6.9L. Didn't realize how long the old starter had been going bad, this one spins the motor like a top. Top bolt on OEM starter was tough to get to, the frame and exhaust are in the way so you need a very short 1/2" to get it started Lowes had a cheap set of Stanley's for $12 that worked, then needed a 10" socket extension to get it out, twisted by hand, no room for the wrench. Top bolt on new one is worse, starter design prevents getting a strait shot at it. Picked up a 1/4" flexible driver (screw driver style) about 10" long and a 1/2 deep socket at Lowes and was able to get the top bolt in with that, not sure how else you could do it without that. Someone with more experience and tools than me probably would have figured out the install faster, it took me a while and a couple hardware store trips so hopefully these tips help the next DIY'r.
